NDRI is very pleased to share that after eight years of advocacy efforts by the Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE) and the Gift of Life Donor Program of Philadelphia, lawmakers unanimously passed the Donate Life PA Act (SB 180) on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. The law, which marks the first major update to Pennsylvania’s organ transplant law in 25 years, is on its way to Governor Tom Wolf for signature.
The Donate Life PA Act puts Pennsylvania among 48 states which adhere to the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act, which seeks to standardize practices so all available organs end up reaching people in need. This law would not have been passed without the dedication and passion of countless transplant advocates across the state of Pennsylvania. More than 7,300 people in Pennsylvania are currently waiting for a life-saving transplant. NDRI congratulates all who advocated for this law, which will change lives and also increase education on organ donation.
Thanks again for your support.
