Bill Leinweber, President and CEO of National Disease Research Interchange (NDRI) admits that NDRI’s work is complicated, because medical research is complex. For nearly 40 years, NDRI has accepted the challenge of meeting increasing demands of the medical research community, who rely on high-quality, healthy, and diseased biospecimens to conduct lifesaving research.

The National Disease Research Interchange (NDRI) has been awarded more than $800,000 by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The supplemental awards provide support for NDRI to serve as a human biospecimen resource for research focused specifically on Alzheimer’s disease, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and HIV/AIDS. The three awards are supplements to NDRI’s Human Tissues and Organs for Research Resources (HTORR) program which has been supported by the NIH since 1987.

“Support from the NIH affirms the strong value of our mission,” said Gene Kopen, PhD, NDRI’s Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and principal investigator for the HTORR grant. “As an organization, NDRI has demonstrated the capacity to leverage this support to enable a broad range of complex research projects requiring human organs and tissues.”

Monday, July 17th NDRI President & CEO, Bill Leinweber and Dr. Gene Kopen, Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives met with staff of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) for an engaging seminar entitled, “The Critical Role of Human Tissue Environmental Health Sciences Research”.
