VA-ALS Biorepository Brain Bank

VA-ALS Biorepository Brain Bank

To advance research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often called Lou Gehrig’s disease, the Department of Veterans Affairs Biorepository Brain Bank (VABBB) collects, processes, stores and distributes ALS biospecimens for future scientific studies. NDRI helps VABBB obtain the samples they need to build the biorepository, or human tissue bank.

In 2013, the Veterans Administration (VA) in Boston contracted NDRI to provide brain and other central nervous system (CNS) tissues from patients who had enrolled in the VA’s ALS Registry. We continue to collaborate with VABBB to further this high level of specialized research. Through our unique Private Donor Program, we have established the expertise and experience necessary to provide comprehensive project management and pathology services to VABBB to recover the ALS-specific tissues it needs for research.

NDRI is a Not-For-Profit (501c3) Corporation.
