Lung Molecular Atlas Program

Lung Molecular Atlas Program (LungMAP) Initative

The Molecular Atlas of Lung Development Program, or LungMAP, is a National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) initiative managed by the Human Tissue Core (HTC) at the University of Rochester. HTC’s goal is to create a comprehensive molecular atlas of developing lungs from donors 22 weeks of gestation to 10 years of age by assessing lungs and associated annotated clinical and genetic information. LungMAP research aims to understand the cause of lung diseases that develop during fetal growth and early childhood. In 2014, NDRI began working with organ procurement organization (OPO) and tissue bank partners to screen and identify donors eligible for this groundbreaking program.
