Hospital Systems

Why Hospital Systems Partner With NDRI

Researchers working to understand and develop new therapies for a wide range of diseases, including cancer, diabetes, arthritis and heart disease, rely on living donor tissues for their investigations. Experience has shown time and again that patients are very willing to donate if it means having a chance to advance medical science and contribute to the development of new treatments and cures.

By donating surgical or archived tissues or organs that hospital systems routinely deem medically unnecessary, patients and families have the opportunity to contribute to vital medical research.

Surgically removed tissue may include:

  • Explanted organs from transplant recipients
  • Skin, fat and cartilage tissue removed during plastic surgery
  • Tumors and adjacent normal tissue

NDRI will work with your pathology or surgical team to identify procedures that could provide tissue to currently active research studies.
