Tissue Banks

Why Tissue Banks Partner With NDRI

Researchers need both healthy and diseased tissues in order to continue to advance their investigations. Tissue banks are important partners in making these human biospecimens available for research. A tissue bank’s commitment to donors and their families helps to fulfill patients’ last wishes by making the option to donate for research possible.

Tissue donors as well as donors who are not eligible to donate for transplant can donate tissues for research. Tissues can be donated to help support the studies of both common and rare diseases and to develop new treatments and cures. Recovery of tissues donated for research generally takes place after recovery of tissues for transplantation, so it does not interfere with normal recovery procedures.
