Joslin Medalist Type-1 Diabetes

A world leader in diabetes treatment and research, Joslin Diabetes Center at Harvard is dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes and ensuring that people with diabetes live long, healthy lives. The center’s 50-Year Medal Program recognizes individuals who have lived with insulin-dependent diabetes for 50 years or more. Joslin’s Medalist program is pursuing innovative pathways of discovery to prevent, treat and cure Type 1 diabetes in patients who have managed the disease for decades.

Since partnering in 2010, NDRI’s Private Donor Program obtains consent for post-mortem tissue donations from Medalists. Donor details are kept in secure registries, and NDRI coordinates the recovery of biospecimens to support and advance diabetes research.
